Fresh Samples

FIDELIS RESEARCH has experience in providing high quality customized tissues to the biopharmaceutical industry. Our aim is to assist in the development of novel therapeutic approaches to the treatment of diseases.

FIDELIS RESEARCH provides high-quality fresh tissue and blood samples to its clients within 24-48 hours. The viability of this will obviously vary depending on the locations of both the source and the client.

All samples are obtained from clinically-defined and consented patients. Sample sizes vary from 0.5 to 1.5 grams depending on the indication and client’s requirements.

For the preservation and transportation of specimens we use various media depending on the specific project protocol. The most common types of transport solutions used are AQIX and Hypo Thermosol solution.

FFPE Blocks

The preparation of the FFPE blocks starts within 30 minutes after tumor removal. A piece of human tissue prepared by a certified medical pathologist is submerged in 10% neutral-buffered formalin for maximum of 24 hours and embedded in IHC-grade paraffin.

The target FFPE specimen size is 0.5 x 1 x 1 cm, but it can vary significantly depending on the nature of the disease and tissue type. The fixation agent and the embedding media can be customized upon request

FIDELIS RESEARCH can provide FFPE blocks from diseased patients as well as post-mortem donations.


Cryopreserved PBMCs are a common specimen source for studies of immunological responses to vaccines, immunotherapies, etc. The health and viability of cells recovered post-cryopreservation are of course critical to the success and accuracy of immunological assays performed on them.

The blood collected in a heparinized vacutainer tubes is diluted in sterile PBS. Ficoll is added and then centrifuged.

The white blood cells are harvested and washed with PBS. The pellets are re-suspended in FCS or HSA and DMSO. Aliquots of cells are transferred into cryovials and frozen into liquid nitrogen.

Preparation and percentage of the reagents can vary according to client specifications.

Frozen Samples

General protocol for preparation of frozen tissues: 

Small pieces of tissue cut at approximately 1cm x 1cm x 0,5cm are prepared by a certified medical pathologist and are snap-frozen in liquid nitrogen usually within 20 - 30 min after the surgical excision or 4 - 12 hours postmortem in autopsy cases then stored into - 80°C freezer.

A standard sample weighs 0.5 - 2 g on average and is supplied in a standard cryovial. An embedding media can be added upon request
